Collingswood Democrats Public Meeting + Women's History Month Special Event

The Collingswood Democrats invite you to our public meeting, plus a special event as we celebrate Women's History Month!

The public meeting of the Collingswood Democratic County Committee will begin at 7:00pm. Immediately following this meeting, Camden County Surrogate Michelle Gentek-Mayer and Collingswood Commissioner Morgan Robinson will make remarks about the importance of women's representation in public service. They will share their unique public life journeys and discuss the value their experiences and perspectives bring to their roles. You’ll also have an opportunity to learn exactly what a County Surrogate and Commissioner do to make life better for their constituents.

Black Atlantic Musical (BAM) Festival

The Black History Month celebration will conclude with the Black Atlantic Musical (BAM) Festival in the campus. The BAM Festival will showcase musical styles and traditions emerging from the various sites of Black engagement with the Atlantic Ocean. The Rutgers–Camden Gospel Choir and the New York-based Sound Noire will perform.

“From West Africa to South America and from the Caribbean to Europe, music has been one of the lasting legacies of Black diasporic presence and power,” says Green. “This event is a celebration of those presences.”

High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America

The Haddon Township Equity Initiative (HTEI) in partnership with Ida’s Bookshop and the Ritz Theatre Company are proud to present a night of 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 & 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯!

Join us at the Ritz Theater on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24th @ 6PM for an evening of film, music, history, and food, all in celebration of Black History Month! The event includes a screening of an episode from the docuseries, 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘨: 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘈𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘊𝘶𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢, and a performance from Ida's Youth Choir. Following the screening and performance, guests may take home a complimentary meal from Aunt Berta's Kitchen.

The Camden County Historical Society will also be onsite, sharing information about the rich history of the county's African American community, as will Ida's Bookshop, with a selection of books for purchase.

Please note: this is a masked event. ALL attendees must wear a mask during the entire event.

Covid-19 Policies

All audience members ages 5 and up will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 when entering The Ritz. Full vaccination status means that, on the date of the performance, a guest is at least 14 days removed from their second dose of an approved two-dose COVID-19 vaccine OR at least 14 days removed from their sole dose of an approved single-dose COVID-19 vaccine.

Exceptions will be made for unvaccinated individuals who bring ONE of the following documents upon arriving at the theater:

A negative COVID-19 PCR test performed by a medical provider within 72 hours of the performance start time. The test results must clearly show the date and time of the test.

A negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test taken within 6 hours of the performance start time. The test results must clearly show the date and time of the test.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from the aforementioned vaccination/test result requirements, but must wear masks while inside the building.
