Elisabeth Yucis

Municipal Chair

Elisabeth is the current Municipal Chair of the Collingswood Democrats. While she has lived in Collingswood since 2012, she first fell in love with the borough while a graduate student at Rutgers-Camden in 2003. She is an Associate Director in the Professional Development and Instructional Issues Division of the New Jersey Education Association, an educators' union representing nearly 200,000 school employees across the state. At NJEA, Elisabeth serves as the policy liaison to the New Jersey Department of Education and the New Jersey State Board of Education; she also heads up NJEA's work on educator evaluation and works with NJEA's Center for Honesty in Education as well as several other projects. Previously, she was a high school English teacher for 14 years, first in Philadelphia and then in Collingswood, where she served as advisor to the Women’s Empowerment Club and the GSA (Gender-Sexuality Alliance) and helped write the district’s transgender student policy.

Elisabeth and her husband Jason, an accountant working for the Federal Transit Authority, have an eight-year-old son, Joe, who attends Tatem Elementary and plays recreational soccer, baseball, and basketball. Though work and family keep her busy, she loves running, reading, cooking, and traveling. Elisabeth embraces the values of collaboration, intentional decision-making, and engaging those with diverse points of view. She is running for re-election because she believes in the team and wants to continue fostering productive relationships between the Party and our borough.
